Glossary of Attendance Terms
ACA - Affordable Care Act
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or "Obamacare", is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. Together with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, it represents the most significant regulatory overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965.
Application Service Provider (ASP) Hosting
isolved Time Software is hosted by isolved as your ASP. All time entries are sent to our secure location and backed up regularly.
Automatic Polling
AutoPoll saves valuable time by automatically performing many of the time & attendance functions for you. It allows you to pre-select when you want to transfer your data from your time clock and automatically downloads that data to your computer for processing.
Barcode Card Swipe
Barcode Swipe Cards utilize the 3 of 9 and 2 of 7 Barcodes. Like the Magnetic Swipe Cards, employees slide the card through the time clock. Available on the IQ series time clocks.
Bell Relay
Rings a bell to signal shift beginning/end or lunch & break times.
Buddy Punching
Employees who clock in and out for each other often unauthorized and as a way to steal extra time. There are several options to eliminate buddy punching with isolved time clocks including touchpad (fingerprint) and hand shape recognition.
Card Holders
Each wall-mountable holder holds 15 Generic cards.
Cleaner Cards
Used to clean the Magnetic or Barcode reader swipe units from collected dust and debris.
Cloud-based
Cloud computing, or something being in the cloud, is an expression used to describe a variety of different types of computing concepts that involve a large number of computers connected through a real-time communication network such as the Internet.
Cold Weather Chip
Allows clock systems to operate in temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Optional item.
Daisy Chain Connect
A Daisy is a unit that connects to the Master Clock (the first unit attached to the computer). Additional Daisy units can be attached to each other. A Daisy unit can be a maximum of 4,000 feet from the Master unit. All isolved clock models can be purchased with Daisy capabilities.
Direct Keypad Entry
Direct Keypad Entry is a keypad on the clock used to type in PIN and other numbers. Available on the IQ series time clocks.
Door Access
Provides security access to open doors within your facility, and the ability to track door access punches in TimeForce.
Employee Lock Out
Restricts and does not accept time punches at the clock for employees not scheduled to work on that day or time. Locked-out employee receives a message on the clock display informing them of the rejection. Supervisor/Administrator override is available.
Employee Messaging
Send an individual, group, department or company wide message to the time clock from TimeForce. A history of messages is stored in TimeForce.
Employee Reporting
Employees can view their accruals, current pay period hours, and allowed punch window. Employees also have the ability to lookup department, jobs, and tasks, the user can also upload a selected list of departments, jobs, and tasks.
Ethernet TCP/IP Connect
Connects directly to Ethernet connection on network, allowing for remote communication. Available only on IQ series time clocks.
Fingerprint Templates
The number of fingerprints a time clock can store to authorize employee time punches.
Generic Cards
Available in both Magnetic or Barcode description. Ordered in packages of five cards in sequential numbers. Customized numbering available.
HR Module
A Module that tracks Human Resource related actions and events.
Job Tracking Module
Job Tracking is a Module that can be added on to TimeForce to immediately give you the information you need to be able to identify labor costs attributed to projects by employee, department, quantities produced, and task-type. Magnetic Card Swipe
Magnetic Cards work like a credit card with a magnetic stripe on one side that employees slide through the time clock. All ETC and IQ models come standard with magnetic card swipe.
Modem Unit Connect
Every isolved clock has the option of an internal modem built into the clock. This will allow for remote communication. At this time, Daisy units are not compatible with modem-equipped clocks.
Multi-Company Support (MCS)
MCS allows more than one company to generate time & attendance data using the same software. Companies can either share the same time clock or use a different time clock for each company.
Network Hosted Application
isolved Time software can be hosted on your local network instead of using isolved as your ASP.
Payroll Export
Exports time data into the most common payroll packages. If we do not have an export available for your payroll program, it can usually be developed when your payroll company provides the proper specifications.
Proximity Cards
Proximity Cards don't require the user to slide the card through the reader. The user flashes the card in front of the Time Clock (read distance is 1" or less above the surface of the clock). Cards can be read through wallets, purses and pockets. Available on the IQ500 and IQ1000 time clocks.
RS232 Cabling
Direct connect to serial port of computer from Master clock. Available on all models. Twenty feet of unshielded cable comes with each Master unit. Cabling distances beyond 20 feet and up to 200 feet require shielded cabling, available for .80¢ per foot.
SaaS
Software as a Service. Software as a service, sometimes referred to as "on-demand software" supplied by ISVs or "Application-Service-Providers", is a software delivery model in which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud.
TimeForce Software
TimeForce is time & attendance software, powered by isolved. It seamlessly integrates with isolved-built time clocks, manages your time & attendance and exports to the most popular payroll programs, third-party payroll processing bureaus or to isolved Payroll Services. You can collect, manage and process time with one complete system by isolved.
USB Adapter
Allows the RS232 cable to be attached to the USB port of computer. Master clock can then be up to 200 feet from the computer.
Vehicle Power Supply Adapter (VHS)
Allows remote/portable time clocks to connect to vehicle battery via cigarette lighter adapter on VHS.
Webinar
A Webinar (short for Web-based Seminar) is a seminar or presentation that's transmitted over the Internet. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements--the ability to give, receive and discuss information, rather than just receive it.
Wireless for isolved Systems
Wireless connection to time clocks. Must be within 100 feet of Access Points, distance may vary according to obstructions. (Access Points not provided.) Available only on IQ series time clocks.
