A lawsuit regarding employee time and attendance is being filed against AAI Corp. One current and one former worker are suing the drone manufacturer for failing to pay AAI employees overtime. The suit was filed on May 13 in a U.S. District Court in Baltimore, where the two workers - Eric Trembly and John C. Keenon - alleged that the company improperly labeled employees to avoid overtime fees.
Trembly and Keenon allege that AAI classified ground control systems pilots as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and California wage laws, and are beginning their fight with AAI by requesting a class action lawsuit against the company. If successful in their request, other current and former employees of the manufacturing company could join in on the legal action without having to file lawsuits of their own.
This is not the first time AAI has faced complaints about overtime payments. In 2012, the company agreed to pay $1.6 million in settlements for three wage lawsuits in Baltimore, Alaska and Washington. AAI Corp. refused to claim liability in these cases and instead made the payments as part of a settlement.
