Time clocks, management improve worker efficiency

Time management often poses a problem for many employees and organizations. However, time and attendance software can help businesses function more smoothly. Moreover, it allows workers to focus on their individual tasks and duties.

The Utica City School District recently installed time clocks in schools throughout the district in an effort to reduce the prevalence of overtime payments. School district official Maureen Albanese told the Observer-Dispatch the newly installed devices have dramatically cut into overtime costs. In fact, the school district saved $88,764 during the 2012-2013 school year as a result of the new system. Employees are no longer working extended hours without official approval.

That being said, employees should take advantage of software to handle organizational operations for any given company, but there are a number of ways in which workers can better manage their time to avoid working overtime. Establishing clear-cut deadlines for daily work can greatly improve worker efficiency, according to Business 2 Community. However, any benchmark set should be realistic and can be accomplished during a specific timeframe. Similarly, rewards for attaining set goals can be a huge motivating factor.
