A former employee of Texas Custom Pools Inc. is suing the company for lost wages and missed overtime payments, The Southeast Texas Record reported. John Satterwhite has filed a lawsuit against the Sherman-based company in the hopes of winning back pay and other financial rewards.
Satterwhite worked as a driver for Texas Custom Pools from December 2011 to June 2012, as well as from November 2012 to March 2013. He alleges the company denied him minimum wage, a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which has currently set the federal minimum wage at $7.25 per hour. Satterwhite's income during his time at Texas Custom Pools has not yet been disclosed.
He further claims the company failed to pay him legally mandated overtime payments for weeks he clocked in more than 40 hours of work. Under current state and federal laws, Satterwhite should have been paid time-and-a-half for all overtime work.
Satterwhite has filed the suit in an effort to earn financial rewards for damages, court costs, lawyer fees and interest accrued on the back payments.
Cases such as these underscore the importance of responsible employee tracking as well as compliance with federal and state labor laws.
