A Lindale, Texas-based freight shipping and trucking company was recently sued for time and attendance violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act, according to the Southeast Texas Record.
In his class action lawsuit, Azmi Abdelmajid claims he is one of numerous safety supervisors employed by the company who had not been adequately compensated for overtime employee attendance. The FLSA dictates that non-exempt employees who work more than 40 hours in one week should be compensated at time-and-a-half pay for each additional hour. The lawsuit is seeking overtime back pay, in addition to attorney's fees, court costs and liquidated damages.
According to a separate article by the news source, a similar lawsuit was recently filed against two Carthage-based companies and their owner. According to the lawsuit, which was filed by three employees on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated, Heckmann Water Resources, Complete Vacuum and Rental and Steven Kent Jr. are accused of failing to pay overtime wages since October 2008.
