A number of employees in the cleaning services sector in Texas claim their employers are guilty of neglecting to pay them fully for time and attendance, and also accuse the company of minimum wage violations, according to the Southeast Texas Record.
Plaintiff Jerry Windham filed suit against his former employer, OJS Systems Inc., in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division court system alleging the business violated Fair Labor Standards Act regulations. Windham claims OJS failed to appropriately pay him for work performed beyond 40 hours per week. Windham is suing for overdue compensation, overtime payments, liquidated damages and litigation costs.
Additionally, former industrial cleaning technician Larry James Jackson has filed suit against Evergreen Environmental Services in the the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division, citing claims that the compensation provided by the cleaning company failed to meet the federal requirement for minimum wage.
Moreover, Jackson alleges Evergreen never compensated him for duties performed before and after stipulated working hours. The former cleaning technician explained that the company required him to collect protective equipment, inspect vehicles, load equipment, participate in meeting and fill out documents, all of which he completed without receiving pay.
