According to a recent Elance study, an increasing number of small business owners are engaging in online
employee recruiting.
A total of 83 percent of the entrepreneurs surveyed said they planned to hire at least half of their employees online in the next 12 months. Nearly half said they aim to make 90 percent of their hires online. Web programmers, graphic design experts and writers were the three online positions found to have been most beneficial to businesses over the past year.
Cost savings were the top motivator for hiring online, with 85 percent of entrepreneurs naming them as a key driver. Flexibility to scale up and down followed with 73 percent, while 60 percent cited faster hiring time. A total of 94 percent said they had experienced at least a 25 percent time saving by hiring online, and 75 percent were able to use the channel to cut hiring times in half.
"I predict that at some point, 99 percent of businesses will have between 5-10 percent of their hiring done online because it makes so much sense," Elance CEO Fabio Rosati told Reuters.
