One company in South Carolina learned the hard way the results of poor payroll processing. According to WPDE-TV, employees at the Softee Supreme Diaper Corporation in Mullins saw their paychecks bounce after company's bank did not accept the check that would cover a large number of
payroll payments.
The company's president, Collin Brown III, told WBTW-TV that no more than 18 employees were affected by the faulty check. Employees found out about the error when they went to deposit their paychecks.
Brown reportedly wired the money to the bank to cover the funds for those employees after the bank put a hold on the payroll funds.
There was one sign of a potential problem. According to WPDE, 25 employees walked out of the company's headquarters on Sunday evening after complaining that they hadn't been paid. Brown told the station that the problem was balanced out by overstaffed numbers the company added in recent months.
Brown told WBTW that the company's cash flow issues should be somewhat alleviated in the near future with the expected arrival of a $2.6 million industrial revenue bond.
