Pennsylvania school district enforces dress code for employees and students

Franklin County, Pa., is seeing many changes to school dress codes as two districts are following up an employee code with students codes. Teachers and staff were asked to abide by new clothing regulations the previous school year and the districts aren't stopping there. Students' garb is now being looked at under closer scrutiny.

A spokesperson for the district said the district needed a wardrobe overhaul in general, claiming the dress code needed to be "tightened up." The school districts are making efforts to have a more professional atmosphere for both the staff as well as the students and believe the move will set them in the right direction.

Dress codes are widely adopted for most places of employment, and are not an issue as long as workers feel they are being oppressed or overly restricted. Creating a more professional atmosphere is a good start to running an organization well. As long as businesses have a reasonable dress code, accurate employee tracking and a safe environment, they may not come into contact with any violation fines from the Department of Labor.
