California has been subject to one of the worst statewide unemployment rates in the country. However, there may finally be some good news for hopeful jobseekers in the Sacramento region, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Businesses that have weathered the deepest parts of the recession will reportedly step up their
employee recruiting efforts, touching on a number of verticals where help is, in some cases, an immediate need.
The Bee reports that businesses in and around California's capital city are focused most on healthcare workers, information technology specialists, software engineers and data security.
"It feels totally different now around here," Curt Cetraro, chief executive officer of ConnectPoint Search Group, a Sacramento-based recruiting firm, told the paper. "Business is very busy right now. We're seeing needs in accounting, IT, lower-level clerk positions. A good percentage are new positions. That was not the case last year."
Employee recruiting has also picked up in Buffalo, New York. Yet, unlike Sacramento, businesses in the frigid lakeside city are already looking ahead to part-time summer hires, The Buffalo News reports. Recruiting events are being held as part of the city's Summer Youth Employment Program.
