The London newspaper The Week indicated the popstar Lady Gaga is being sued by her former personal assistant Jennifer O'Neill for neglecting to pay her fairly for time and attendance.
According to the deposition, when O'Neill was hired in 2009, "she was paid a pro rata salary of about $50,000 a year." That pay rate increased during the following year, but the schedule Lady Gaga, also known as Stefani Germanotta, required the assistant to keep didn't afford her any personal time.
O'Neill claimed the pop star frequently made her sleep in the same hotel room and bed during the year and half that she was her personal assistant. As a result, she was working a 24-hour schedule and regularly performed tasks at the immediate request of Germanotta. Her duties included checking the singer's phone and email, in addition to maintaining her personal items, such as luggage.
During the more than 13-month period O'Neill worked as Gaga's personal assistant, she alleges she accumulated more than 7,000 hours of overtime, resulting in $380,000 in unpaid wages. Consequently, a U.S. district court ruled the personal assistant is able to sue Lady Gaga over the alleged time and attendance violations.
