Earlier this month, the overtime employee attendance earned by the police chief of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, was called into question, according to the North Jersey Record.
Donald Ingrasselino took home nearly $29,500 worth of time and attendance compensation between January 2010 and October of this year for his role in drunken-driving enforcement operations.
According to borough council president Louis Vuoncino, Ingrasselino's previous contract contained a clause that allowed him to be paid time-and-a-half for working more than 40 hours in one week. However, the contract he is currently bound by - which spans from July 21, 2007, to the end of this year - does not include the provision.
"Somehow, when the contract was renewed, that language was taken out," said Vuoncino, as quoted by the news source.
According to Elmwood Park Mayor Richard Mola, the issue is currently under review by the council.
In another part of the state, Paterson Mayor Jeffery Jones' overtime earnings are also being investigated. When the city council recently refused to delay a hearing about the payouts until the end of the month, he stormed out of the courtroom, according to a separate article by the news source.
