As city governments face increasing pressure to maintain budgetary benchmarks – bringing in as much revenue as possible while decreasing overhead costs – there are some officials who have given much thought toward implementing updated time clock systems. According to a recent press release, the majority of state and city workers have to punch in and out of work at multiple times per day.
On many occasions, employees are expected to travel to various buildings within one main campus, meaning they might punch in at one location in the morning, a second one at lunch and possibly a third at the end of the day. Fortunately, many of the modern time and attendance systems come equipped with digital communication technology, so that employees aren't limited to using one device.
In fact, Long Island News Day reported Brightwaters, N.Y., trustees are considering put a time clock in the village hall. Not all trustees were receptive to the idea, questioning what kind of influence the system would have on the morale of staff members. Meanwhile Jack Riordan explained the technology would be a good way to maintain wage information.
