Three former employees of Fargo, North Dakota, gentlemen's club The Northern recently filed a time and attendance lawsuit against the club's parent company and owners, according to The Associated Press.
The lawsuit alleges that The Northern illegally deducted house fees and fines from the dancers' paychecks, took a portion of their earnings for dances performed in its VIP room and failed to compensate
employee attendance in accordance with minimum wage and overtime regulations.
The plaintiffs contend that they were fined $100 for arriving late for a shift or leaving early, in addition to being required to pay $55 for each shift they worked, which was then shared among other workers, including bouncers. One employee, Heidi Current, claims she worked more than 1,300 hours of overtime without adequate compensation.
The three women are suing for a total of $166,000 in back wages, compensation and house fees.
Last month, several exotic dancers sued Texas-based Jaguars Gold Club for allegedly misclassifying them as independent contractors, which wrongly exempted them from receiving overtime pay for working more than 40 hours in a week.
