Former Roadrunner Records employee accused of embezzlement

A former payroll manager for heavy metal and rock music label Roadrunner Records recently pleaded not guilty to second-degree grand larceny and falsifying business records in the first degree after being accused of embezzling more than $420,000 from the company, The Associated Press reports.

Sharanda Houser - whose employment with the label was terminated last year due to the fact that she had been filing for unemployment benefits while working at the company - allegedly submitted false expenses using the names of executives at the label, then had the reimbursements wired to herself. She reportedly made 130 deposits ranging from $1,600 to $6,000 between May 2004 and August 2010, which she used to pay off credit card bills and her mortgage.

The news source reports that Houser has a previous conviction from 1999 for stealing $13,000 from an employer in Virginia.

Roadrunner Records - a subsidiary of Warner Music Group - is home to Korn, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Nickelback and Trivium, among others.
