District trustee board decides on teacher dress code

After implementing a student dress code at Cleburne, Tex., district schools, superintendents were approached about a possible teacher dress code, according to the Cleburne Times Review. Board trustees and staff brought the idea before administrators after there were questions and concerns about what employees were wearing to school, and the most recent version of the employee dress code was put into effect this past week. The teachers are therefore expected to abide by certain guidance for their time and attendance at the district's high schools.

Employees voiced concern about spending money to improve their wardrobe according to the new codes, but others said it shouldn't be too much of an expense. Issues were brought up about certain types of shirts, denim wear and flip flops that are part of the dress code teachers need to follow. Apparently the new codes were adopted from other districts employee regulations, and administrators hope the changes were made far enough in advance so teachers can make the necessary changes to their wardrobe.

"There will still be flexibility, but I think going forward, that when a person comes to a CISD campus, they will see a staff that is differentiated from the students, especially at the high school level," said Superintendent Tim Miller.
