Assistant sues Lady Gaga for unpaid overtime

The former assistant to Lady Gaga recently sued the superstar's touring company for $380,000 in unpaid overtime.

Jennifer O'Neill alleges she put in more than 7,100 hours of overtime employee attendance while employed by the singer between 2009 and March of this year. According to court documents, O'Neill is also seeking premium wages, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and pre-judgment interest.

The suit, which was filed earlier this month, claims O'Neill was required to work or be on call 24 hours a day, with "no entitlement to breaks, for meals … or, at times, even sleep."

Gaga's company, Mermaid Touring, is being sued for failure to pay overtime wages as dictated by the New York Department of Labor and the Fair Labor Standards Act, and failure to pay premium for work past 10 hours a day, as required by the state's time and attendance legislation.

Motley Crue's Tommy Lee recently found himself in a similar situation when his former assistant filed a lawsuit accusing him of making improper wage deductions and failing to provide adequate overtime compensation.
